Gardens are our direct connection to the raw energy of life.

PHILOSOPHY

Gardens are where the Earth’s living energy is amplified.  They allow us to breathe, find energy, vitality and wellbeing.  Our own living energy connects with the same energy present in the Earth’s gardens. As such, they nurture and awaken our physical, mental and spiritual selves.

RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships are critical for us.  Our gardens foster enlivening relationships - between people, the earth and each other.  These are places where you will find yourself.

Every client is different, every site is different.

The gardens we create are places of beauty and joy, an almost inevitable expression of the site fulfilling all needs.

designing gardens
is OUR passion and joy.

BARBARA LANDSBERG,
PRINCIPAL

Barbara is fascinated with relationships - with ourselves, each other and our living Earth. The living energy that flows through a healthy and beautiful environment nurtures and enlivens those within it – and it is this relationship that Barbara is most interested in fostering in her gardens.

Barbara studied in London at the Inchbald School of Garden Design, and the English Gardening School in the Chelsea Physic Garden. She combines her years of experience and skill in designing gardens with a deep sense of responsibility to the Earth and to those for whom she creates gardens.

The gardens I design are a creative shaping of many dynamic elements, which come together in a complex form yet feel perfectly simple, being so settled in their landscape and so suited to those who live in it.
— BARBARA LANDSBERG

BEN MIURA,
SENIOR DESIGNER & PROJECT MANAGER

Ben’s respect and appreciation for gardens and design began in his childhood, leading him to study horticulture at the University of Sydney. During his study, Ben managed a retail nursery, developing industry knowledge and his passion for working with plants. He studied Landscape Design at Ryde TAFE and for many years ran his own horticulture and landscaping business.

Since 2014, Ben has worked with Barbara at Landsberg Garden Design. Their shared passion for the power of gardens to heal and bring joy has driven the creation of many beautiful gardens. Ben has designed a number of award-winning gardens while working at Landsberg Garden Design and previously at Quercus Gardens.

Travelling, surfing, kayaking and rock-climbing energize Ben and extend his knowledge of and love for our natural world.

Energizing garden design comes from understanding people and how they experience space physically, intellectually and emotionally. a good garden is the dynamic integration of needs, spirit and sound horticulture practice.

CHERITH PIPER,

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER & PROJECT MANAGER

Cherith’s desire to creatively engage in the world around her has led her on a varied yet connected path. During her Visual Arts Degree at Sydney College of the Arts she was drawn to the qualities that connect people to place; ideas of home and space as a container for memories. After graduating with first class honours, Cherith sought to follow her increasing desire to work creatively with nature. For many years she worked with flowers, learning their secrets and their power to bring joy and inspire.

From floral design she discovered landscape design. Combining a love of nature with the realisation that she could play a part in creating places that connect people and hold memories, she completed her Diploma of Landscape Design at Ryde TAFE.

At Landsberg Garden Design Cherith brings a rich understanding of design principles and creative solutions, as well as horticultural knowledge. She shares Barbara and Ben’s belief that gardens deeply enrich the lives of people and can heal the Earth.
